“Well, I met my husband through a mutual friend, and we were good friends, and he knew me, and I knew him, but I was kind of scared to go in a relationship because I’d seen lots of relationships not work out.
What convinced me to marry him, was he was so persistent in being kind to me, even when I didn’t deserve it, and I knew he loved me, because even when I did something wrong, he took the time to explain where I’d gone wrong, and he went above and beyond what I expected of him, so then I married him.
Well, my parents are from Hong Kong, and they had me in the ‘80s. So, I’m a banana; I grew up in New Zealand with an Asian heritage. What I value in life, I value family, and I’m a Christian, so I value Jesus and what He’s done for us, and I value just meeting people, and just the community in my community.
Well, the classic Bible verse is; Love is patient – love is kind – doesn’t keep records of wrong – it’s not rude – does not boast – it’s not arrogant. And I think love feels good, and affection towards other people, but love can be painful, and it can mean doing what’s good for others, even when it hurts you. Say when I have to correct my child, I have to do what’s good for them, even when they don’t like it. Even when they don’t like me back, but it’s wanting for their good. So, I think love is doing what’s good for others.”
