“I guess growing up I wasn’t quite sure really what that was. Some experiences in my childhood probably shut me down a lot, in a lot of ways, but when you mention love the first really strong feelings I have is towards my daughter.
I believe that true, honest, unconditional love I experienced when I became pregnant with my only child when I was 30, after being told I wouldn’t have children. So, I loved that little baby before she was born. I had really strong feelings of connection and compassion. It was a very difficult pregnancy and sitting here now, I feel my eyes watering a bit because my daughter is now 25. She’s living in Leeds in the UK, and she’s just given birth to her first child, my only grandchild. So, I’m feeling a lot of love today, and I truly believe that’s my message for you.
I can share about what it feels like to give it (love). For me, I feel if I, because I love my child, my girl, my daughter, those feels are incredibly powerful. They are very unconditional and it’s a feeling that really does come from in here (heart), and I think it’s a deep and spiritual feeling, and a connection, because even though she’s so far away, we still feel, both of us still feel really deeply connected through, through that love.
I had a tough growing up. Growing up was, was difficult, through circumstances that I had to experience, and I resulted in many, many years of addiction. I’m 10 years clean now.
Okay, so what’s really, really important to me today is to stay clean and sober, connected to a spiritual higher power. Family is really, really important to me. My parents are getting older and I feel really very deeply about serving them now, and being available to support them. So I mean, I do strongly feel that family is the most important thing for me to focus on, and then friends and then the greater society.”
