“Well, it’s interesting. I don’t know about my first love, but in a couple of days, I’m heading off for my 30th wedding anniversary, and we’ve actually invited the best man and his partner, the groomsman and his partner, the two bridesmaids and their partners.
So, five couples are all meeting up, down in the lower North Island to share a weekend together.
I suppose, my first love, well this is probably a little bit further down the track, but it certainly feels appropriate at this stage, with this 30th wedding anniversary coming up. First love was probably more back in high school like a lot of people, I suppose it is one of those times where it tips your world upside down really because it’s all this new stuff going on inside your system.
I suppose, for me, it’s about trying to, well I suppose it’s easy to reflect back now, all those years on, maybe at the time it’s totally different. Probably is, but I suppose your friends, your family help you certainly through those particular times, and just having a strong sense of who you are, and the belief, I suppose in yourself and in what’s around you.
I suppose we’re both, I could say, maybe on the same page. We’re very much open to other ideas I believe. I think we’re adaptable. We have a lot of things in common, but we also understand that we’re both two individuals, and wanting to not, I suppose dominate or try and influence that person on their particular journey. I suppose we just see it as a journey, we’re just two people kind of in parallel that are on this journey together, and yeah really, really supportive. Not that we don’t have our ups and downs, but I think, you know, as long as we continue to talk about it, think it just makes us stronger, really.
Oh, love, love feels like, for me, when everything just kind of feels in synch. Where I, I call encompassing, really and everything just, the world seems like a really good place, even though, you know, obviously there’s a huge amount of issues out there, but I think it just, yeah feels all-encompassing really.”
