“I don’t know that I’m very easy about that sort of, sort of subject, but certainly, when I was a small child, I was living in St Heliers, and I was in a loving family situation there.
Then later I was living in other parts of Auckland, including Takapuna, and certainly, it was in Auckland that I met my wife of 54 years.
It’s a matter of being truly confident with somebody else, and truly wanting them to have everything that’s good and, and happy for them. Well of course, because there are two people, and because they are different in some respects, it doesn’t always go absolutely smoothly, but it does require, not only respect for somebody else, but wanting the very best for them, and if that is there, then that helps to make it a worthwhile relationship, and without that, it’s not a special relationship, and possibly not likely to be as lasting.
I live in Melbourne at the moment, my home is Auckland, New Zealand. I grew up in Auckland, apart for a few years in Wellington. I didn’t ever find sporting activities, which are so important to many people, I didn’t ever find them quite as valuable to me personally, and so that’s an aspect of life that I haven’t fully benefited from, but to correspond with that, I have found that the things of the mind are very rewarding and fulfilling. Indeed I’ve come to your library at Takapuna today because I want to read up a bit more about an important philosopher by the name of Friedrich Nietzsche.
