“Just not taking certain opportunities, that could have got me in a better place, but being blinded by other sort of, less fortunate opportunities, kind of got me in a different position where I should have been.
You know what I mean? So just having the opportunity to go overseas, and take my craft overseas, and being able to set up a business there, but ignoring it because of the party scene. Getting too side-tracked by wanting to go out and spend time with the homies, and trying to get girls and stuff. Just the, the usual stuff.
Oh born and raised in West Auckland, Henderson. What’s important to me? Now, it’s my job, and my craft, because I’ve come to understand how many people I can affect by what I do, because I’m a barber. It’s quite therapeutic, and I believe that with all the depression and stuff that’s surrounding men in general, it’s kind of a good job to be in, and a way to give myself a platform to be able to change that. You know what I mean? Or sort of effect it in a positive way. So, in terms of, men not really having a spot to really be able to be open and discuss what’s on their minds, and also after the whole service, leave feeling refreshed, clean, because I’m a firm believer in, look good, feel good, do good. I believe I can really affect someone with what I do, if you know what I mean.
Mainly with little kids, I’ve had some children come to me for their first haircut, when they could pretty much barely even talk, and now they’re in intermediate, you know, and their confidence is so out there that it’s quite infectious, which is good, you know, because you’ve got to be confident. You’ve got to be able to be that confident within yourself, to be able to be confident in what you do. It’s right in my face, and that’s what I like about my job too, everything that I’m doing, the progress, the accomplishments, the milestones, it’s all right in front of me. So, it’s a constant reminder of what I’m doing, why I’m doing it, and sort of why I should keep doing it. It’s Humble Cutz Barbershop.”
