Jaypee | Manurewa
“Okay, my name is Jaypee, I’m originally from Tahiti, and I’m living in Manurewa today. So, it was actually me giving a good hand to the Red Cross, that we all know that are all around the world, and they’re making sure that everybody gets proper things.
So, I’ve been with the Red Cross for a couple of months and then been experiencing a lot of good things that they do since that we can’t do it. So, we actually try and help them as much as we can, by giving funds, giving money to the Red Cross and Society, to help disabled, to help the ones that are struggling around the world, and it is a real problem today. I don’t think that we have enough time to share for the ones that are struggling, and I wouldn’t mind doing a lot of things for those people, and I’ve been helping the Red Cross Society for the last couple of months, giving a bit of money every month, and I think we all should chip in, even if it’s only $1, it’ll help them a lot.
I think it’s our job today. As I said, we’re running out of time, and people are struggling out there. So, if we can give a word to everybody around the world, even around our community, give them a little hand. I think they need more from others, from us, from everybody around the world.
I come from Tahiti, which is a long way from here. I was born in Tahiti. Mum is from Te Kōpuru, from Dargaville up North, and Dad is from Te Kaha, from Gisborne. So, this is my land for me. I’ve come back here after 35 years. The first time I came here was in 1980. I came to school here in Whangārei, and then actually on medical reasons, and this is home for me, forever now, definitely.
I think we were raised the proper way on giving, even though you’re not receiving anything. Just give. That will warm other people. Whatever you have, just give. You don’t expect anything back from them. Give and you will definitely get helped in another way, but please, ladies and gentlemen, give whatever you have, even though it’s a cent, 10 cents, a dollar, it’ll help us all around the world. People struggling. People dying, and people need medication – people are sick out there, just think about them. Give them a little hand, and we’ll all be happy.”
