“Real anger. Real anger, possibly two days ago.
I kicked my foot onto the table leg, and it hurt. So, it made me a little bit grumpy for a couple of seconds. My reaction was frowning grumpy face, and some choice words, but then I was over it. I think I knew it was because of my own doing. I wasn’t being careful, so I just reminded myself, I cannot do that. I have to be careful when I’m walking around the table, and then I got on with my day.
Well, there’s varied degrees of anger. There’s instant anger, long-term anger. I think coping mechanisms are really important if you are feeling angry a lot. That’s where you get support. You know, from the community, from your friends, from your family, or go and seek out a counsellor if there’s deep issues. I think some of the youth are feeling left out with what’s happening around them, but that’s where I think we need to bring them back in with community activities, and friends and family sticking by each other, yeah.
Oh, biggest thing is family for me, and that can be blood or not blood. So, my friends are family to me. I love the elderly. I love babies and children, and I love animals. I value all of them.
I was raised by my grandparents, raised in a house with always family gatherings, family events, little ones so you’d baby-sit your cousins.
Animals, we’ve always had pets since we were little. I live on a property with quite a few pets, which I love and I think children and elderly you can learn a lot from.
Grew up in Glen Eden, went to all the schools in Glen Eden. So, I’ve got a lot of friends and memories here.”
