They’re important because they know more than just your family. If it comes to it, and your family’s not around, you’re going to have to rely on friends, really close friends.
I grew up in Panmure first. Was born in Kaitaia, stayed in Kaitaia, and when my nana died, I was about four or five, and we came to Auckland because I got whangai’d when I was younger. Eventually, I had to move and go back to Dad, because Dad was staying here in Panmure and Mum too, and then they got a divorce and we split up. So just friendship now, because Mum and Dad are dead, so I can’t rely on them, but God’s got them. God’s got them.”
