“I’m Rachel Anne. I’m originally from Taranaki, but I live in Auckland now, West Auckland. For my birthday, someone did my nails for me.
I’ve never had my nails done before, and I went to have a manicure, whatever that was, and she was very nice. We were playing dance, and she took me aside. It was my birthday and she gave me a manicure, and they did all the fancy stuff like polishing and it was really, really lovely. I’ll never ever forget that.
So, I grew up in Taranaki in Hawera. I came up here when I was five years old, and my Uncle Bob passed away, and then my mum went to a rest home. I met my fiancé, and am happily married, I’ve got one son that’s 14, I’ve got two little two nieces, and I’m 49 years old.
Family is more important, and being there for one another, and just be happy. If you have your bad days and good days, it’s better to have somebody there so you can talk, instead of building it up inside you. It’s good to have friends like that around you, and even strangers are really good to talk to, to have them there for support.”
