Greg | Westmere
“My name’s Greg and I live near the zoo in Westmere. I developed like a dependency on someone I knew, and I was like really obsessed with them, and around that time, I met this lady and she really helped me to get through the whole thing, and supported me, and used to drive me around places, and give me advice.
Because she had had problems with obsessive relationships in the past, and so she really helped me. She died of a brain aneurysm a few years ago, but she was certainly there for me, in the time that I needed help.
I grew up and was born in Kawakawa, and I grew up mostly in West Auckland, and went back up to school in Kawakawa. In life I value seeking after the supreme being and kindness, kindness to other people. I think that’s the key thing for me, is kindness.
I think it’s really important to have support at difficult times. I imagine a lot of people kill themselves because they don’t have much support, but at the same time, sometimes we turn away the support. I think that the supreme being sends us help, but we often don’t recognise it and we turn people away. We turn away the help that’s sent to us. We don’t appreciate it.
My future? I just started going to the gym and I’m trying to lose weight and get healthy, and yeah that’s my goal at the moment, is to get healthy and I had a breakdown last year, so I’m trying to get balance back in my mind. Try to develop a healthy mindset, and healthy body, healthy outlook.”
