“My name’s Cathy. And I live right here in GI. I remember one time I saw my friend and it was the middle of winter, and he was walking around with a singlet on.”
I said, bro, it’s freezing outside. He was like, oh yeah, and I said, here I’ve got a jacket and I gave it to him. Then not long after that, another friend gave me one of his jerseys. Just random people that I’ve met in GI since I’ve been here. I’ve been living here for three years, but I was brought up in Panmure, which is the neighbouring suburb.
I don’t base myself on having friends. I just prefer being with family. Family and people that are kind to one another are most important. I’ve come across lots of strangers who have been kind to me, and I always say, thank God for the kindness of strangers.
Just in general, people can be kind or people can be mean, but I’ve come across a lot of kind people, and that’s why I think the kindness of strangers is important.”
