“Last December my daughter came back with me, so I can’t go out to work fulltime and I resigned my job to look after my small girl.
I designed my new career in the future. I want to be a teacher, a fulltime teacher in the future because I can share every day and every holiday, the same time with my daughter. I’m starting in the library most [of the] time while she’s in school. I’m starting to prepare for a teacher certification.
I come from China and I grew up in a very small village of China, which is close to Russia. I have a master degree in classical literature in China. Since I came to New Zealand, because my English not excellent, so I want to improve my English. I want to be a teacher because I love to be with children, but I don’t have the confidence with the language. So I just utilise [my] time with looking after my children [and at] the same time to improve my English. That’s all.
I have two daughters. The eldest is with her dad, and the youngest is with me, because the court helped to transfer to me. My eldest, a little trouble because she didn’t talk to me. So every time I met her [it was] with a supervisor. The youngest is better, she can accept the new environment, and I think there is a period for her to pass the time. I’m very happy too, I’m very enjoy the time with my children, especially now with my small girl.
I want to be a teacher, maybe in intermediate school or high school. I was a writer. I write a lot of Chinese children’s stories and received a literature award. I love teaching and love writing. I love children’s fantasy stories, so I just want to have some job related to that.”
