Wesley | Massey
“My name is Wesley, and I’m from Massey. Probably the thing I would be proudest of would just be graduating from high school and making it into uni, because last year was a bit of a struggle, like struggling to get all my credits in high school, but I have actually ended up getting my NCEA Level 3 and 2.
That was probably the hardest thing for me because I had to make up a lot of hours for it.
It’s big deal because I’ll probably be the first grandchild to graduate from uni, and also with me, I don’t want to let all the struggles that my grandparents and parents went through to help me get where I am today, and in the future hopefully.
So, I was born in Fiji, in the capital, Suva and I grew up there for about six years, and then I moved to New Zealand and I’ve been living in New Zealand for over 10 years now. So, I went to Kelston Boys’ High School, and I’m a local. I’m from Massey, all the way out West. In the future, I hope to graduate from uni and probably move to Australia and open up a physiotherapy clinic over there.
In Fiji, it was sort of different compared to New Zealand. In New Zealand, you would say, people are more worried about money, whereas in Fiji it’s all about life. They just live life to the fullest, even if they have less or nothing. Like, they still make memories out of it.
Probably I value loyalty the most, and my friends.”
