“I’m always inspired by things in the garden, but never really inspired to doing anything else much. I’m pretty well settled, so yeah.
I grew up in a little village in Lincolnshire in the UK, and I sort of spent most of my life in Cambridge in the U K. I’ve been in New Zealand for 11-12 years now. I think the most important thing for me are family values. I mean like friendship and, trust I suppose. They’re the main sort of issues for me. They’re the sort of things that I drive for.
Yeah this is probably one of the reasons why I moved to Titirangi; because this inspires me. I mean, just to actually get out and about and see the bush, and just live in such a beautiful place. That always gives me inspiration.
I mean again it’s a difficult one. I’ve not been too involved in it, I think it’s just like really hypocritical and they’re chopping down all these kauri trees when everybody else is trying to save them. I don’t know if work’s already started on it or not, because I mean, I can actually hear bulldozers from my house, so there’s something going on somewhere, way in the distance, but I mean it’s quite difficult. I think Watercare own the land, as far as I know, but yeah it’s just a real shame, because it’s going to spoil probably one of the most beautiful parts of Auckland, and have a big sort of effect on people that live there as well, you know.
It just makes me feel good. It makes me feel alive you know. I could not live tied up like in Botany on a housing estate, because I may as well have just stayed where I was. So living around the bush, you know, it’s just like, it just makes you feel good.”
