How are you?

Riding has given Mike a new community as well as a passion that supports his mental health.
“Riding would probably be my single most important stress relief in my life. It is my passion, it’s my love. When I’m not riding my bike in winter I’m working on my bike usually.
I’m pretty good overall. You know, there’s always something going on in everyone’s life, isn’t there? But overall, it’s pretty good. I’ve probably met some of the best people through riding. I’ve made some close friends from it, and considering when I came down here, I didn’t know anyone, it’s been great. Now, I’m hanging out with people—strangers who become friends. It’s awesome.
We all see it the same way. When you’re on your bike, you’re switched off from the world. You’re just thinking about riding and focusing on the next corner, keeping an eye out for that car or the guy on the phone, and doing whatever it takes to keep yourself safe. The speed and adrenaline go hand in hand with it.
It’s an individual experience because you’re in control. What you do on that bike—whether it’s with the brakes or the throttle—that’s all on you. But the community side is huge too. We get together, have social events, and it’s all about bringing the community together. Whether it’s standing around, looking at bikes, or just talking crap—it’s a good time.”
