What has brought you the most joy or strength this year?
Sophya | Kerikeri
Through whānau support and daily commitment, Sophya shares the progress she is making towards her goal of becoming a beauty therapist.
“The things I’ve enjoyed this year is meeting new people as well as completing things I need to complete before the end of the year.
Achieving goals is what I really need to do. Staying committed to the things you really need to commit to. Like showing up on time, showing up with positive attitudes.
I really want to achieve. I really want to focus on getting my NCEA level 1 and 2. But for now, I’m sticking to my level 1.
So next year, hopefully I’m still here so I can complete my level 2 and then because I really want to become a beauty therapist. So my Aunty, cause she’s part of the tutoring, so she hooked me up with them. It’s been good. Something to do everyday.
I’ve started my NCEA level 1. I’ve almost completed it within four weeks. I actually really like this course. I enjoy it. Something I look forward to, waking up in the mornings.”
