Russell | Unsworth Heights
“Yeah, Russell, and I live in Unsworth Heights. That’s a bit difficult. I would say former All Black captain, Richie McCaw. He’s inspired me as a person, not just as a rugby player. I’m a keen rugby supporter but he’s just inspired me for what he’s done.
He just inspires me, in inverted commas, as a good person. He’s under the spotlight. He could easily have said things wrong. He never seems to get angry. He keeps his emotions in check, and I think he’s made all the right moves. He’s, one could say, maybe he’s had a privileged background. I don’t know. I just think he’s just a person with great humility. I guess I’ve got no wish to meet any politicians or what have you. I don’t have a lot of time for politicians, and I think he’s just got the attributes that I’d like to have. I don’t think I have, but I’d like to have. So, there’s things I would discuss.
Well, I grew up in Dunedin, a pretty normal life. I worked in the finance industry for 37 years. My family, I have four children, and whilst I have some individual pursuits, sporting and family is a big part of me, both direct family and extended family.”
