“Fun is…how to define fun? I don’t know. In a Buddhist temple, or Buddhist monk we don’t have fun like general people. We are peaceful in the temple and follow the doctrine of our religion.
My temple is Watyarnprateep Temple in Auckland. I’m from Thailand and was ordained [as a Buddist monk] 10 years ago. When I was ordained I felt happiness, I felt peaceful. In my home town we have a belief ordained in Buddhism, we believe in the teachings of Buddha.
As a Buddhist monk from Thailand my lifestyle includes chanting and we do meditation, we try to put off everything from my life. For example we do not do false or bad things, we do not speak about bad things, we are single, we do not have sex. My lifestyle is really easy, we don’t worry, because I wear love everywhere. We don’t wear shirts or pants, I have just a robe, this yellow robe you see. It’s an easy life, I love it.
In my hometown we have a belief about who is ordained into Buddhism. My abbot was ordained as a Buddist Monk when he was 16, now he is 60 and is still a monk, he is happy. It is a belief. A monk can help anything for social.
I don’t have a definition of fun like general people, we have rules. If I do good things I will have fun, and I feel happy. Doing good things is about giving, meditation and chanting, when we do these things I feel I will have fun.
Fun is happy.”
