“I haven’t had stress for awhile now, for a long time. I can’t remember the last time I was stressed out.
My kids. My daughter, yeah really, don’t know what she’s doing. Not telling me. You know? That’s about it, really.
I got older and I finally met the right man, a really lovely man. He’s Māori, Māori-Dutch scaffolder, and he’s the bestest man that’s ever come into my life really. Just being with him, and just having a family, and having kids, and my cat.
Yeah, no life is good. My job is good. Rate has gone up, wages just got better, and I just try and go along with life day by day. See what’s going to happen next time, every day. Yeah, I just look on the bright side. Never think negative. I, I won’t let anything get, get into me, and that’s my spirit. That’s my spirit. I won’t let it bring me down or anything.
It wasn’t a very sweet upbringing, but I had a hard life. My mum had a hard life, and it’s when I got old, a bit older, you get more wiser.
I’m a Ngāpuhi Māori from up North, I’ve been in the city for most of my life really, yeah. I was brought up in Mt Roskill South. I was born in Wellington, but Mum brought us to Auckland, and I was brought up in Mt Roskill.”
