“It’s been quite challenging getting work down here. I love engineering. I’ve been doing that for quite some time, but over the years I’ve sort of been out of touch with it, and then I just found it difficult to get a job just in general.
But, this morning I had a job interview, and that was for welding and I nailed it. So, I start next week.
I’ve done a little bit of study. I’m doing a bit of study, a PT course, but I think that’s sort of more for a hobby, because I like the gym. I like training. I like Jiu Jitsu. I like boxing, all that sort of stuff. I like to keep fit. So, I think being a Personal Trainer would be good for a part-time career.
My advice would be to just keep going for it. Don’t stop till you get it. Don’t stop till you get what you want. If you want something you’ve got to get it. It’s not going to come to you.
Just keep knocking on that same door. Be persistent. Don’t give up. That’s all I did. I kept on knocking. I kept on knocking around the same doors once every two, three weeks, and eventually, one came up. Persistence is the key. The future’s unknown. I guess that’s what I like about it. Everyone’s sort of scared of the unknown, but to me, it’s a bit of a thrill.
I’ve been all around the show. I was born and raised here in Matamata. I took off for about 10 years. I lived in Waihi Beach. I lived in the South Island for a little bit, but here I am back in Matamata again. I guess this place is home. Always will be.”
