“Well, my wife, her name is Potila and I can say that she’s from the island of Tonga, and yes we’ve been together for 26 years now.
She’s everything. I love her, and we’ve been staying together ever since then. After my mission I went back home and dreamt about having someone on my side, and after I had talked to my mum to get the type of woman that suits me. When I saw her in the first day I went up and talked to her, and from then until now we’ve built our relationship from that day, and we were able to get married.
I don’t know whether you know or not, those two boys, the twins, that got the rheumatic fever that was on TV a few years ago; they are my twins. During that hard time of getting ready, almost at the edge to lose my son, she was always there and, and helped me carry that heavy load on my arms, and we got through that.
The Tongan women are up there, and we respect the women. Back home we treat them as a queen, and even though there is some drama between them, but yes that’s how we treat women back home.
I grew up in the island of Tonga, I’ve been to America, to Australia and I came here. When I went home I decided Tonga, it’s no longer for me. So, I just moved in here with my woman. I used to work at the Power Board. As soon as I arrived I worked under Northpower, the Power Board and worked there for nine years, and now I’m a technician. I’m working on Chorus doing fibre optic.”
