Karl | Gulf Harbour
“It was probably the last time I jumped in the ocean and I went for a swim.
That was about a week ago, at a beach in Gulf Harbour. Yeah, sure; you know, I love the, the temperature of the water here it is brilliant. A lot of people would say it was maybe cold, but it’s nice and warm for me, so it’s just a pleasure to jump in the water and have a swim without getting cold and get splashed around in the, in the waves, and do a bit of exercise. Yeah, the water does great things for my skin as well. So I really enjoy it.
I grew up in England. I lived most of my life up until I was about 22 and moved to Australia for a few years. I lived in California in the States for a few years, and I’m here, over here on a one year working holiday visa. Got here couple of months ago with my fiancé, and yeah we are working, and found a place, a three bedroom house, and we’re going to stay here in the Auckland area, or it’s a bit warmer up here up north. I’ve got a job I start later this week. I just went and did a pre-employment drug test, and that passed nicely, so I’m looking forward to starting work on Thursday, working for Auckland Transport.
I have to kind of keep myself busy by doing sports; play a bit of tennis. I went for a run yesterday, just because kind of it can get a little bit kind of isolated around here, and a little bit of idleness starts to bring you down. So, you’ve really got to kind of make some efforts to go outside of your box, and try some new and different things. Sometimes that takes a little bit of motivation from some other people to encourage you to get out, and do some sports and do some activities, but you know, after I do them it makes me feel great, and I’m really glad I did it, even though I didn’t really feel like I wanted to do any kind of, you know, get off the couch, if you like, but as soon as you do, it’s a pleasure.”
