John | Massey

“My name is John. I live in Massey. Maybe I should have concentrated on my work, focused more on studying, rather than leaving it to the last minute. Kind of regretting it now.

This year was kind of distracting for me, but for next year I guess I have to focus more, get in the habit of focusing, really. That’s about it. Maybe spend time studying with other people that actually know their stuff, rather than studying on myself. I find it easier to rely on other people, and if they’re willing to help me, then that makes all the things better. 

So, I grew up in South Auckland, with an I-Kiribati family, and I moved here when I was around Year 7. So, that’s about it. Kiribati.  It’s a country in Micronesia. That’s where my family has come from. 

School’s, I guess that’s kind of complicated. School’s, oh it’s because of me. I really don’t put in as much work as I should, but if I work hard enough, I believe school will become more fun if I’m willing to actually put in the time and the study to accomplish all the work given. I’d like to become a pilot. I’ve been taking English, calculus, physics to help with my studies because that’s required, but that’s what I’ve been doing so far. At the moment I’m not feeling confident, but it’s just about hard work, really.”
