Henry | Māngere
“I think improve our community with helping our surroundings, like with rubbish and making our community more safe.
With myself, lending myself or a hand to others who need help, and making our community a better community, and changing the views of others, how they think of Māngere itself. I’d like to be more open, join a charity, or fundraise for people in need. Just to be more out there, lend a hand.
I grew up in Māngere, I’ve been living in Māngere my whole life, and I wouldn’t change that. I think myself growing up in Māngere taught me the values I am as a person, and I’m well respected and I respect others the same way.
Right now the media’s showing how Māngere is a dangerous place, like lots of robberies and fights been happening in Māngere. I think they don’t really see the other side of Māngere, like the community is helping. There’s a bike thing going on for children as well, and Give a Little, also with foundations.
My future job, to join the Police. I like to help the community in doing that, and also change Māngere; make it a better place of others, and for people to see that it is actually a place to live, and bring up a family. So that will be good.”
