“One of my biggest regrets from school was not playing an instrument. I never learned much about music and a sense of acoustics, although I would have liked to have known a lot about it.
I regret not being more active around musical theories and stuff like that came up in music class. Music’s important to me. Because of my regret, I actually went and found out a lot more about acoustics, how it works, how sound travels, how acoustics affect sound. At the moment, I study for RTC. Level 5 PhD, and I live on the streets in Henderson.
I grew up in Tauranga, around Maungatapu. I went to Maungatapu Primary as a kid. I moved up to Auckland when I was about 11. I’m a streetie, what they call a legitimate streetie. I’m one of the streeties that likes to recycle, likes to pick up cigarette butts and stuff like that, keep the environment clean, stay healthy. Two big ups. Music is important because it helps me pass my day-to-day time, in my day-to-day life. The sound of music and the quality of music actually affects me emotionally, because of some of the kinds of music that I listen to and it’s very important to me and that affects me in a positive way.”
