Lui | Māngere
“My name is Lui and I live in Māngere. I’ve only been here for about three to four weeks, in Māngere. Before that I was staying in South over in Manurewa. So, it was alright. I like it here. I think it’s a nice place. There’s good people.
In 2020 I would like for the world not to end. I like the world the way it is. I think this place is beautiful, and we all have solutions within us that everybody has an input to, and I think as long as we share it with each other, we’re fine. It’s a beautiful place. Belongs to beautiful people, and I think it belongs with the people. So, as long as it doesn’t end, I’m happy with it. So, my resolution would be to just to be more like everybody else, to be honest, to have more place to put input, to be a part of society, to have a job, have a place to stay, to stand on my own feet, and to say, look I did it, I’m here with you. I’m with you I’m not separate from you, I’m not trying to go and cheat my way through life, because that’s not playing the game. You know? Playing the game is being fair, playing the rules, you know, playing it by the rules. So, that’s the way I would like to play it, and I think that’s life for me.
I’m Samoan, so I was born in Samoa. I was raised in New Zealand. I spent probably about 15 years in Aus. I’ve seen a fair bit of life from a few sides of life. I like perspectives on life. I like different perspectives, seeing things from different angles. I like to be able to see something that nobody else has seen, and to share it with everybody. That’s the kind of thing that I like. An artist I think is a person who is who he is, if you just master yourself, the person that you are, I think that you have everything that you need. It brings spiritual fulfilment. It brings a sense of fulfilment in life and as long as you’re abiding by the rules and you’re playing your game the way it’s meant to be played, I think you have a part in all society. I love philosophy. I love religion. I love riddles. Deep thinking, I like honesty, intelligence. A lot of the things that I like is I love observing, so I love to be very quiet and I love to observe everything. I like to take in everything as it is, to be silent, and to just let it be, and to see it with a clear mind, I think could help you, help anybody, actually help. I mean, just to see it for the way it is and to accept it as it is, rather than to try and control it or make it what you want it to be because I don’t think that anybody really knows what they want until they find it, right? So if I wanted what I always wanted, which is usually like pleasurable things or enjoyment, I find myself getting sick of it. I just can’t deal with it. I find everything gets boring. I don’t get much excitement in anything. So, I think it’s in the spontaneous. Life is spontaneous, so when it just is, it’s beautiful.”
