“I took flowers to a friend, day before yesterday, and I went to the chemist and asked the lady at the chemist to deliver them, so she wouldn’t know they were from me. She knew, but.
Everyone has such value that they bring to, to your own life, but also to the community as such, and I think it’s really imperative that we acknowledge you know, the value that they bring, and talk about the things that make them a little bit special.
Yeah, I’m surrounded by family and friends that are just really neat. I’m involved with different organisations that I volunteer for, that are always talking about you know, what you bring, and the bits that you do to make life in our community a little bit better.
I work, one day a week I volunteer down at the Citizens’ Advice Bureau sort of giving out advice to those that need a bit of help and that sort of thing. I foster children. I’ve got three children of my own, and I sort of take on board another one or two children, depending on what their needs are.
More recently I volunteered to become a Justice of the Peace, although that’s sort of, you’ve got to jump through a few more hoops, so that’s not a given, unfortunately. I enjoy volunteering. I’ve got some downtime in my week, and I like to connect with other people, and you meet all sorts, which is really interesting, and it shows me that, you know, everyone’s a little bit different, but that’s okay.
Oh, god I’m glad you’re asking all the easy questions. So, I grew up in Titirangi and I spent a few years in Hamilton, but other than that I’m really West Auckland born and bred.
People. People are important. You know, when we come to our end, I do think we’re going to look back and you’ll be surrounded by the people that you’ve invested in, by the people that you’ve given to, and shared your life with, and I think that that’s really important. I think life’s really stressful. It’s really hard work, and being an adult’s not always that much fun, so I think trying to do your best to make everyone else, make their life just that little bit easier, or certainly that little bit more pleasant is really important. I think you’ve got to have a smile along the way.”
