“It was out of the blue, I met a few guys from years ago I played rugby with.
We were sitting there and you know, I know you, you know me, and that’s why I went. It wasn’t too good the next morning after a fair few beers with them, as rugby players do . We had a good time reminiscing. I played a lot of sport. It’s probably about 40 years ago I played against/with them. It’s nice to catch up over a few beers.
Yeah, nah I’ve always played sport, always been active. I had a hip replaced two years ago which slowed me down a bit, but I’m getting back into golf and that’s about all I can do, now. I love watching sport, and the comradery you get through being in a sports club or whatever; it helps you. Yeah, geez I feel like that bloody little kid on the, Billy Osmond or whatever his name was in that movie, um Pay it Forward.
For your wellbeing, your mind you’ve got to get out and be out with people and get a range of views on any subject. I’ve always been pretty sound-minded, and treat things as they come along. I’ve had no problems in life.
Family, being happy, well looking after people and treating people nicely, kindly. I’m not religious but I sort of follow the words of the Desiderata, which basically says treat people nicely, or treat as you want to be treated yourself.”
