“It’s a poet. It’s a woman Konai Helu Thaman. She inspires me with her poems, how she wrote the poem really inspires my life and encourages me a lot of time.
One of the poems I read of hers is the Chosen One. Which is about a daughter who has to marry the one that the parents choose, which she doesn’t want to, but she still has to. So, she obeys her parents and marries the one that her parents choose. It encouraged me, that obeying your parents is better than having your own joys.
I grew up in Tonga, but I came here. The most important things to my life is spending time with my family, especially my dad, he always stands beside me every time I’m in trouble, and when I need someone to talk to. My dad is always beside me.
I think it’s important to have a woman role model, because not only men are good role models, but women need to the have right to speak up and say their own mind, maybe that will help. My plan is just to live a happy life, and never give up on what you’re going through. Never give up on life.”
