Gia – Sunnyvale
“What would I say to my 11 year old self? Watch where you’re going. My name’s Gia. I am from West Auckland – Sunnyvale. I work for Auckland Council in Venue Hires – hiring our community halls to the public of Auckland.
When I was 11 I got hit by a car. I couldn’t walk. I’m now 30 years old, and I’ve still got problems internal and external, and I’ll never be the same. I’m still hurting from that day emotionally and physically and I might not be able to have children as a result, and yeah it’s just messed up some aspects of my life. Doctors, nurses and hospitals are amazing. If I wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be alive today. They’ve helped significantly putting my body back together inside and out, and yeah, if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be sitting here today talking to you.”
